Safeguarding and Welfare

Brighton and Hove Frontrunners aspires to be a friendly, safe and supportive club. The club welfare officers and the whole committee are committed to achieving this aim.

Our club’s two trained welfare officers are the first point of contact for any safeguarding and welfare concerns.  In addition, they have formal responsibilities as set out by England Athletics and are part of the club committee.

Our club has a Code of conduct - Brighton and Hove Frontrunners, which all members are asked to adhere to.

If you have any concerns about your safety during sessions, welfare concerns for yourself or for another member, concerns about the behaviour of any member, or need any support, please do not hesitate to contact the welfare officers.

Tommy and Patrick are our two welfare officers. If you would rather not speak to one of them, please do get in touch with the other or, if you prefer, get in touch with one of the two co-chairs (Gemma or Marc).

How to get in touch with Welfare Officers:

●      Club welfare email address:  welfare@bhfrontrunners.org.uk

●      Direct messaging through the club whatsApp and Spond channels

●      In person at club events.

Confidentiality

All concerns brought to the welfare officers are treated confidentially.  Information shared with a Welfare Officer may, if not contraindicated, be shared with the other Welfare Officer.  In addition, information might be shared with the club co-chairs, with consent, and if that were needed to solve a problem. The only exceptions to this principle of confidentiality are if you might present a danger of violence to others or if there is a reasonable suspicion that you are likely to harm yourself unless protective measures are taken.

If you have a safeguarding or welfare concern but would prefer not to report it to the welfare officers or club chairs directly and wish to report it to England Athletics, there is more information on this page: https://www.englandathletics.org/welfare/reporting-a-concern/

The club has adopted the UKA safeguarding policies for vulnerable adults- you can read this here and for children here

If you are concerned about the welfare of a vulnerable adult within the club follow the process outlined here, and for a child please follow the process here
