Race Secretary: Paul A

Hello, I'm Paul, a proud and grateful member of Brighton & Hove Frontrunners. I moved back to Brighton in 2022 and joined the club straight away, and I've loved being part of this running community ever since. I could talk about running endlessly!

My sister introduced me to running in 2015, and after completing a half marathon in Liverpool that year, I well and truly caught the bug. It's had its ups and downs over the years, but I always come back to it.

I enjoy all forms of running: cross country, interval training, and long runs. I’m also actively involved in Parkrun of the Month, the East Sussex Sunday XC League, club championships, and various group races throughout the year. With my work and the move to Shoreham, getting to the Wednesday sessions can be tricky, but I do make it along occasionally.

I have a love-hate relationship with racing. It’s tough in the moment, but the feeling afterwards makes it all worthwhile. That said, a long, slower-paced run with a friend or fellow frontrunner is just as enjoyable in its own way, especially with a cold Coca-Cola Zero afterwards.

I'm a goal-driven person and would describe myself as disgustingly competitive πŸ˜‚. Through hard work, determination, and coaching I've improved considerably over the years, though I know it's not all about speed, and I genuinely love supporting and encouraging fellow runners.

This year I've taken on a race coordination role alongside my friend Phil. It feels like a natural fit, and I've already started bringing skills from my day job to make race record-keeping faster and more efficient.

Here's to season 26/27!
